This distillery in the Speyside region has been closed since 1983 (though all of the distillation equipment is still there). An independent bottler like Gordon & MacPhail let us taste the whisky from this gone-but-not-forgotten distillery with bottlings like this – a 1980 vintage Dallas Dhu single malt Scotch whisky.
AROMA WITHOUT WATER
Delicate Sherry influences with hints of green apples, pears and coconut. These combine with underlying aniseed and mint aromas.
TASTE WITHOUT WATER
The palate has orange and ripe banana flavours initially. These are complimented by lingering charred oak and milk chocolate edge.
AROMA WITH WATER
Fresh fruit aromas, kiwi and green apple. Vanilla notes develop and interact with a subtle oak note.
TASTE WITH WATER
Sweet with a touch of fruit, with apple pie, white chocolate and popcorn. A touch of aniseed lingers in the background.
